The shop

Sundaram Coffee Works is a shop on Bazaar Street, Chidambaram. We roast and grind filter coffee and sell it by weight — the way the neighbourhood has always bought its coffee. What used to travel only as far as a customer could carry now ships out from the same counter.

Three blends, three people

What chicory is

Chicory is a roasted root that has long been part of South Indian filter coffee. Blended in, it makes up part of the pack — 80:20 means 80% coffee and 20% chicory. We also sell each blend as 100% coffee, with no chicory at all, for those who prefer it that way. Neither is “better” — it is your cup, your call.
